“Beautiful words don’t come easily.”
Unfortunately, this applies to writers, too.
As students, there are days when we would spend hours staring at a blank page, trying our very best to come up with a good starter line, Sometimes, the article is almost done, and just needs a good finish… but alas, we’re at a loss!
Writer’s block is a common issue that writers face, and can be due to many reasons – stress, lack of inspiration, or even the perception that their work is not good enough. But for many professional writers, those reasons are simply no excuse to our employers.
Getting Past This Obstacle Might Be Easier Than You Think

Word Exercises – Gather a few words at random, and match these words into sentences. Thereafter, start off your writing from the sentences you have created. Who knows where it will take you!
How do you get the inspiration? You can find them through word games such as Bookworm Adventures (joining adjacent letters together to create words) or even through assortments of magazines!
Be inspired! – If you feel your imagination running dry, why not draw some inspiration from other stories? Get your ideas from storybooks, or even your favorite websites. Play a game with an interesting storyline and be inspired by its wondrous scenes and characters!
Alternatively, read real life experiences from magazines, the newspapers, or off a social media site. Who knows, you could very well come up with a better plot line than the stories you were inspired by!
Take a break – Sometimes, being in a totally different environment altogether will prompt good ideas for writes. Take a walk outdoors, listen to music, or play a game that tickles your funny bone. New scenery will trigger some thoughts, which can lead to good starter topics.
As creative artists, writers ‘run out of juice’ every now and then. However, it is important to keep persevering and not give up on the task at hand. Only then, can our best work be created.
